Season Series – Preserve
PRESERVE
Painted cast paper, clothing, twigs, wire, wood, dried foliage, chain buoy, dowel 84”H x 72”W x 14”D Actual leaves and organic matter are preserved in this autumnal piece, for who has not felt the desire to hang on to summer a bit longer? Perhaps the tethering ball and chain will slow down these swift seasonal passages.
Season Series – Promise
PROMISE
Muslin, linen, cheesecloth, acrylic paint, cast paper, tea bags, raffle tickets, glove, hat pin, clothesline, clothespins, dowel, dried orchids 84”H x 72”W x 28”D Summer….a too brief time when we return to the innocence that makes us believe in possibilities. Do the repeated words I DO I DO I floating upon the gauzy overlay of this vestment question the allegiances so often made in this season or become the pledge sworn to by the white-gloved hand raised at the right shoulder of the piece?
Season Series – Quake
QUAKE
Painted cast paper, clothing, tubing, wire, nest, wood, candles, dried foliage, dowel 84”H x 72”W x 26”D Spring erupts, Nature quakes and we sip new life from the seeds in the nest below while the piece’s vine-like umbilical cord provides a fragile connection to the earth’s re-birth-day.
Season Series Winter
MUSE
Painted cast paper, clothing, twigs, wire, wood, yarn, dowel 84”H x 72”W x 10”D Winter….a time in which to center ourselves, to pose upon the precipice of the past year while contemplating the direction we’ll take heading into the new. Is this sweater unraveling to or emerging from the pile of yarn at its base? Will it fly off joyfully like a kite into the stratosphere or simply disappear into that tangled skein to await refashioning for a future winter to come?
