It took me several years to identify the object that could encompass and imply the complexity of the term GRACE…one which could visually impart beauty, charm and movement, mercy and clemency, favor and prayer. There’s something innocent about GRACE that belies the power of its concept. Thus an installation of floating crisp, white aprons was born….aprons which at once became birds, nuns’ habits and angels, while still invoking the stereotype of mom in the kitchen. But what happens to our notion of GRACE when scorch marks intrude on the pristine fabric? Who becomes the arbiter of “dis-grace”? Where has this flying phalanx been….where is it going?
