Taking Tea at Appalachian State University's Turchin Center

Echoing the tumultuous journey of tea from the mountains of China to the lacy tablecloths of British aristocracy and beyond, this version of TAKING TEA again became a contemplative site where the pleasure of "taking tea" connected us with its history and with those who have delighted in this drink for centuries.  Leaving worldly distractions at the door, visitors entered a serenely meditative space where thousands of delicately stained used tea bags morphed into light-as-air sculptural pieces.
